********************************************************* *           Please Note                                                                * *  I shall delete this week's Gallery a day early next week              * *         i.e. On Tuesday February 14th!!                                        * **********************************************************   Following an idea by Jacquie Wilkes and discussed in the UK Chat Forum for a place to exhibit our favourite images a weekly Exhibition was suggested. SO ... This is the place where members can display one of their favourite photos  for others to comment on. The Exhibition runs for a week and will be deleted next Wednesday evening at 7.p.m. (Or as near as I can get!)  As with all Exhibitions chatter is frowned upon - silence whilst viewing, your thoughts can be expressed either in the member's Gallery or in the UK Chat forum under the appropriate thread http://www.myfinepix.co.nz/forum/8/290684 I have noticed that clicking on this link simply brings you back to this page. If however you copy and paste the link into your browser it will take you to the original thread. Any queries/comments/jokes please visit the information desk which will be found at the above address. For Exhibitors - one photo per week. (Please don't change your entry - there is always next week.) The photo should be entered into your Gallery with a copy posted into this thread and a link back to the photo (not your whole Gallery or a blog) posted with it. Any queries as to 'How to' please ask at the information desk (Address above). I hope that folk will try to comment on the photos in this thread - many folk are not as well known as some and all the entries deserve to be viewed with enthusiasm and encouragement. It is a way for the hidden gems of this site to be viewed by other members. Could I also ask members who see a 'gem' whilst browsing the Gallery to ask the photographer to post it here. I think in the first instance if the member's contact button is activated then an email to ask the member to post the image. However this should not prevent gems you have seen from being brought to the notice of other members. We all love to see really great photos, no matter where they are from. No competition entries. Enjoy the Gallery. Any that were posted recently can be re posted in this thread.

I have noticed very distinct white outlines on some shots, mainly on vertical poles etc.(see station shot in my gallery). Wondering if anyone has the same problem. A pity because the sharpness at the long end was great especially on an overcast day.Love the camera but also having a few exposure problems. Read the firmware update for the X 10 and it seems to have the same problem. Hopefully there will be a firmware update for the X-S1 as well.

Having looked through a good number of this month's comp entries, I've noticed quite a few that might benefit from a little CC..... over exposure,  under expsure, focus not quite sharp etc, and  there's also a few where I (and it might be just me!) can't see any "perspective" there at all!  All these images seem to have had great praise too! I've refrained from saying anything, because when I have done in the past, people have had a go at me!!  Are people frightened of giving CC these days? Or are we not supposed to give CC on comp antries any more? I don't presume to be the world's best photographer or anything, but from listening to judges at my local camera club, (and having my own images pulled to pieces at times!), I've learned a lot about what makes a good image, and I'd like to pass this on!!

I know this has been discussed here before but this time i have a very concrete suggestion. The idea is to make it easier to add a like to a photo in the gallery when you comment on it. Fred, perhaps you can one of your database wizards have a look at it.. Suggestion: At the end of the 'enter a comment' section there are the two buttons 'Save' and 'Preview'. Why don't we have a tick box between these two buttons (or in front of them)? The user writing a comment could just tick this box and together with saving the comment the LIKE would be entered as well. The LIKE button we have today must not be altered at all it could stay for the members who just want to leave a like without writing a text.

Hi my name is darren,36,from kings lynn and  looking for like minded people...sorry wrong site. (i've always wanted to say that) if my wife reads this im dead. I've been a finepix owner for years and loved each one. My last finepix was the s5700. This is the one camera i have had the longest. 7.1mp and 10x optical zoom, great camera. only changed it at Xmas 2011 because I've broken the battery door on the bottom. I know you rap a rubber band round it, but it looks so poor, us i upgraded it to the all singing and all dancing HS20EXR. This is to date the best of the bunch. I find myself each morning packing the HS20 into my work bag, as you never know when that shoot will come along. I think that's enough of me for now and time to say Hello. Hello all at my finepix. Top class site full information that I'm using already. Thank you all. Keep up all the hard work. I SALUTE YOU.

dispite having many cameras for many years, i have only just started using the settings of aperture and shutter speeds etc.( would i be expected to remember what settings i have used for which photos,) this seems far to much for my memory. I might go back to just choosing auto, and let the camera choose for me.(No i dont really want to go back) what i really need is some help and advice....HELP...bobzy.
